The Priority Programme SPP 2225 “Exit strategies of intracellular pathogens” is a consortium of German infection researchers that is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation). The SPP 2225 aims at exploring the spectrum of convergently evolved exit pathways employed by bacterial, parasitic and fungal pathogens with relevance for human health. Knowledge gained by the SPP 2225 will extend our understanding of microbial pathogenesis and help to explore novel targets for future interventional measures to counteract human infectious diseases. The project start of the SPP 2225 was in February 2021 and it will run for a funding period of six years.
